Engine Crankshaft Seal
The engine crankshaft seal, also known as the main seal, is a critical component that prevents oil from leaking out of the engine around the crankshaft. Your crankshaft seal is positioned where the crankshaft exits the engine block, typically at the front or rear of the engine. It creates a tight barrier between the rotating crankshaft and the stationary engine parts, preventing oil from leaking at this point.

Engine Crankshaft Seal Failure Symptoms
Oil leaks: One of the most noticeable signs is oil leaking from the front or rear of the engine. This can be seen around the crankshaft pulley (front seal) or near the transmission area (rear seal)
Burning oil smell: If the oil leak from the seal reaches hot engine components, you may notice a burning oil smell
